Over the past year the foundation has primarily engaged in work
related to global public health, especially the HIV/AIDS pandemic. A
particular interest has being taken in taken in scientific and
technical issues related to drug and vaccine development, and access
to treatment in the developing world.
In addition to working on these issues directly, the foundation has
worked in conjunction with, and advanced funds to help support, a
number of other organizations also working in these areas.
Specific direct activities of the foundation have included:
- completion of a course in immunology and studying AIDS vaccine
development
- creation of a website that provides an index to organizations
working on issues related to the work of the foundation
- publication of a newspaper advertisement for World AIDS day
- distributing flyers on global AIDS at the SF AIDS Walk
- working with BAIDO to distribute information at the Grantmakers
Without Borders reception of the NNG conference and at the Stanford
International Development Conference
- attending several conferences related to global public health:
